Koelreuteria bipinnata, also called Chinese flame tree or bougainvillea golden-rain tree, is an ornamental tree native to China and other parts of Asia. Though it has beautiful flowers, leaves, and seed pods, it’s more rarely found in the temperate regions of the US. The specimen at the Barnes Arboretum, a state champion tree, was planted in 1976.
