Art & Aesthetics
The Barnes Foundation offers a progressive approach to learning. Using an inquiry-based method, students of all ages are encouraged to develop their visual and analytical skills under the direction of dedicated instructors. Spring 2012 Art and Aesthetics Courses
- ARTNOW!
Instructor: John Gatti, MFA
Spring Semester, Thursdays, noon–2 pm
January 26, 2012 – May 3, 2012
$500 non-members, $450 members
Albert Barnes collected the visually challenging art of his lifetime. In this spirit, the ARTNOW! uses all of Philadelphia as its classroom—from galleries, to museums, to artists' studios. Led by artist and Barnes Instructor John Baptiste Gatti, ARTNOW! students get to experience behind-the-scenes access to shows at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and other art venues. Spring 2012 highlights will also include the ArtBlog's Libby Rosof and Roberta Fallon presentation on "The State of the Arts," and their Art Safari, a guided tour of independent and artist run spaces throughout the city.
Meets at the Barnes Foundation Arboretum House, 57 Lapsley Lane, Merion, Pennsylvania, and other locations as scheduled.
To register for Spring 2012 courses, please complete the registration form and mail to: The Barnes Foundation, Education Department, 300 North Latch's Lane, Merion, PA 19066.
Please Note: Due to the temporary closure of the Barnes collection, the 2011–2012 Art and Aesthetics courses will be held at off-site locations in Merion and Philadelphia. Organized gallery visits to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts will allow students to hone their analytical skills.
