The unique bark of a Japanese Stewardia

Laura’s Favorites: A Bark Appreciation Walk

Instructor: Mark Shaw, Bartlett Tree Experts

Laura L. Barnes was especially fond of trees with interesting bark, which offer a visual and tactile treat even in winter. Her penchant is reflected in the grove of mature Stewartia, the Kousa dogwoods, and other woody plants that offer interest after their leaves have fallen. Join us for a guided tour of trees and large shrubs with ornamental bark. Begins with a presentation in the library classroom.
