About the Class

Drawing is the primary language of art. Examine the styles, history, and practice of drawing used by artists represented in the collection. Each session will include a lecture on the history of drawing, demonstrations of drawing techniques, hands-on exercises, and guided visits to the galleries to look at examples firsthand. No drawing experience is required.

Al Gury is the chair of painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His own paintings have been shown at galleries around the country, including Philadelphia’s F.A.N. Gallery. He has also written three books on art and has had numerous articles published nationally and internationally.
