About the Class

No other artist has had a greater impact on the art of the 20th century than Paul Cézanne. What was it about Cézanne’s painting that inspired many artists of the period and continues to influence painters today? Held in the Barnes galleries, where you will find some of the most beautiful Cézannes in the world, this course offers students the opportunity to analyze Cézanne up close and to explore the way that later artists, including Picasso, Matisse, and Modigliani, absorbed his lessons.
