About the Class

“Working before a soul-stirring landscape,” Henri Matisse wrote, “all I thought about was making my colors sing.” And sing they did. Matisse presented the world with dazzling brilliance, and fauvism was only the beginning of his explorations. Join us as we study Matisse’s extraordinary life, which itself followed a trajectory from darkness into light and color. Explore the Barnes collection’s 59 works by Matisse, including the radiant Le Bonheur de Vivre, the monumental Dance mural, and the enchanting late paintings on canvas.

Capacity: 18 students
