The Art of Looking Digital Version

Originally conceived for 5th and 6th grade students in the School District of Philadelphia, the Verizon Foundation-sponsored Art of Looking program is now available to classrooms nationwide thanks to this digital version. Through the process of looking at and analyzing art, students will build their art vocabulary and heighten their visual literacy skills. In addition to six beautiful images of works from the Barnes Foundation collection, the Art of Looking digital version includes lesson plans for both 5th grade and 6th grade students, as well as special activities focused on building literacy, math, and science skills.

Resources for Art Speaks!

Art Speaks! is a museum visit program designed for fourth-grade classrooms in Philadelphia public schools. Students explore wonderful ways to learn about art and how to respond to what artists create. Matching the School District of Philadelphia’s fourth-grade language arts curriculum, the learning strategies of this program are literacy-based. Access Art Speaks! teacher materials here.
