Gardening for Beginners

But with over 200 species and hundreds of cultivars, selecting the right magnolia for a home landscape can be a challenge. Andrew Bunting, Scott Arboretum curator and past president of the Magnolia Society International, discusses the best magnolias, from delicate small trees to statuesque specimen plantings, and how to successfully incorporate them into a residential setting.

Learn how to make your next planter a massive success with instructor Dan Benarcik, container specialist at Chanticleer. Select the right container and medium and get specific instructions on how to achieve various design outcomes using a variety of plant material. The last class is a practicum, where students select from among Dan’s favorite plants to design and install their own fabulous container to take home.

Ferns and their Allies of the Barnes Arboretum
