About the Event
Enjoy an evening of art, live music, film, cocktails, and light fare at our monthly First Friday mixer. Tonight’s program is presented in partnership with the 12th Annual Philadelphia Latino Film Festival (PHLAFF)—the region’s only festival showcasing the extraordinary and innovative work of emerging and established Latinx filmmakers.
Our collaboration with PHLAFF features a night of Caribbean soul with Latin fusion band Afro Dominicano. This all-star group blends traditional Dominican music—perico ripiao, palo, merengue de orquesta, and bachata—with Afrobeat, reggae, calypso, samba, funk, rock, and more. Plus, see PHLAFF short films by writer and director Eunice Levis. Levis is a Dominican American filmmaker, professor, and cohost of the podcast Café Negro con Genre.
