About the Event

Each month, members of our Art Team—a group of professional art historians, artists, and educators—present their ongoing research on the collection to members. These 20-minute talks are a great way to learn more about your favorite artists in the collection. After the talks, Art Team members are available to answer questions and exchange ideas.

This June, Michael Williamson discusses two paintings by American artist Charles Demuth in Room 18—Masts and Piano Mover’s Holiday. These works are emblematic of Demuth’s contribution to precisionism, an American modern art movement that synthesized elements of European cubism. Demuth’s artistic circle inspired his unconventional poster portraits, which later influenced pop artists of the 1960s.

This event takes place on-site in Room 18. Registration is required.
