About the Talk

Cindy Kang on Dr. Barnes’s Travels
On-Site & Online Talk | Member Appreciation Days

Dr. Albert Barnes’s collecting habits spanned cultures and geographies in surprising and complex ways. Barnes associate curator Cindy Kang explores how traveling helped develop three aspects of his collection—Pueblo and Navajo art, African art, and works by Amedeo Modigliani—that inform the Barnes’s centennial year exhibitions. Learn how Dr. Barnes tied these works and cultures together in service to his progressive vision for education.

Members are invited to join us on-site, in the Comcast NBCUniversal Auditorium, or online via livestream. Online registrants will be emailed a link to access the talk on Thursday, May 19.
