About the Event
It’s the first Sunday of the month, which means free admission at the Barnes! Visitors have access to the collection and all our family activities and entertainment.
This month, we’re welcoming the arrival of spring. Join us for colorful art activities, a museum-wide scavenger hunt, and lively performances that will inspire new ways to look at art and see the world come alive around you.
What's On Today
10 – 10:45am (9:45am sign-ups/check-in) Gallery Stroller Tour
This guided journey is just for families with young tots on wheels and in baby wraps. Visit select works of art in the galleries, and finish just in time for Storytime activities.
Note: Single and tandem strollers only.
11 – 11:30am, 11:45am – 12:15pm Storytime
Bring your ears and imagination to Storytime with our Art Team and storyteller! Listen to stories that connect you to master artists and their inspirations.
10:30am - 2:30pm Art Making
Drawing Studio. Challenge your observation skills. Whether you’re sketching objects on display or your own self-portrait, observational drawing is about drawing what you see, not what your brain may be rushing you to put down on paper!
Monet’s Garden. Make beautiful paper flowers inspired by the artist's garden. Study floral shapes and colors for a sweet bouquet to welcome the arrival of spring.
Where’s Fidèle? Find Dr. Barnes’s favorite dog as you color in replica masterworks from our collection.
10:30am – 4pm Scavenger Hunt
Work as a family team or on your own. Pick up a scavenger-hunt list with objects, hints, and clues, then search the museum from top to bottom, inside and outside, to record your findings. Complete your list, solve the mystery clues, and return to the Barnes Scavenger Station in the Annenberg Court for your reward!
1 – 2pm, 2:30 – 3:15pm, 3:30 – 4pm Griz, music
Singer-songwriter Chris Grunwald, aka Griz, brings his guitar and a range of musical standards and original works. Feel free to request your favorite song and sing along, or sit back and listen to this maverick of the Philadelphia music community.
2:30 – 4pm Art Is for Everyone!
Group Canvas. Add your mark to a replica work of spring bouquets and gardens from the collection, and reinvent it into a modern group masterpiece.
Lend a Creative Hand. It’s National Pet Month, and we want to pay tribute to Dr. Barnes’s dog Fidèle. We’re making superhero capes for our own furry friends and pets in local shelters.
Free tickets are available on-site at 10am, include collection access, and are limited to four per person. Families with children under 18 will be granted priority access to the collection at the time of arrival. Tickets go fast, but you don’t need one to enjoy our free family activities and performances. Just drop by anytime during the day!
Did you know? ACCESS cardholders get in free every day.
