This month, we’re highlighting the work of artist Mickalene Thomas, whose vivid, spectacularly staged artworks offer an empowered vision of Black femininity and beauty. Performances: Philadelphia Jazz Tap Ensemble
This month, the Philadelphia Jazz Tap Ensemble presents progressive jazz music and tap dance featuring compositions by great women in jazz, including Geri Allen, Beryl Booker, Mary Lou Williams, and Shirley Scott. Directed by Pamela Hetherington, these performances are inspired by our exhibition All About Love and Mickalene Thomas’s representations of feminine power through portraiture. Get ready to dance and help us tell the story of jazz!
