About the Event
It’s the first Sunday of the month, which means free admission at the Barnes! This month, we’re celebrating the ways that the Harlem Renaissance still influences life, art, and culture in Philadelphia today. Enjoy tap performances by the Lady Hoofers, and find stories of jazz and poetry in our galleries and learn more with our fun family activities. Plus, see the collection in our main galleries and visit our special exhibition, Isaac Julien: Once Again . . . (Statues Never Die), in its last weekend.
Limited capacity. Registration opens Thursday, September 1, at 10am.
Before your visit, see our current safety guidelines.

The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble
Join the Lady Hoofers, a Philadelphia-based all-women’s tap ensemble, for a performance celebrating the Harlem Renaissance. Founded in 2011, this collective produces original works of choreography while also preserving the tradition of improvisation in rhythm tap. As described by the Dance Journal, “The Hoofers not only can spark the floor, they take tap in unexpected directions.”
