About the Tour

Check out our new Spotlight Tours! Each month, we focus on a different artist or theme, allowing for a deeper dive into specific areas of the collection.

From his early collecting days until his death in 1951, Albert Barnes continually acquired and sold objects and paintings. He was constantly evaluating their merit and their placement within his ensembles. Learn about the artists and works Dr. Barnes prized above all others as well as those he was less fond of. Discover how he patiently fought to get such major works for the collection as Cézanne’s Large Bathers, Renoir’s The Artist’s Family, and Matisse’s Three Sisters triptych.

After the tour, you’re invited to explore the collection galleries and special exhibition.

Next up: Don't miss our August Spotlight Tour.
