About the Tour

Each month, Spotlight Tours focus on a different artist or theme, allowing for a deeper dive into specific areas of the collection.

This month, we’re examining the works of Paul Cézanne, an artist who captured Dr. Barnes’s attention early in his collecting career. Cézanne’s innovative style and practice set the stage for radical changes in the art world in the 20th century. It’s no wonder he is often called the “father of modern art.” See how he defied conventions in paintings such as The Large Bathers and The Card Players and how these works influenced other artists in the Barnes collection, including Matisse, Modigliani, and Picasso.

Includes access to the collection before and after the tour.
