A celebration of Asian American artistry.

About the Art Ball

The Barnes Art Ball is the premier art party in Philadelphia, bringing together a dynamic group of collectors, connectors, and cultural tastemakers for an art-filled celebration of the creative spirit.

The benefit event is a campus-wide party that includes live entertainment, multiple bars, abundant food stations, pop-up performances, and opportunities to explore the Barnes’s permanent collection and special exhibition galleries.

As is our tradition, the Barnes Art Ball draws inspiration from our fall exhibition. This year, the event coincides with Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America, which explores the confluence of art, design, and the natural world that helped shape midcentury design aesthetics in America.

This groundbreaking exhibition reconsiders postwar art and design within the context of two generations of Japanese American artists from the late 1930s to the late 1960s. Showcasing a wide range of artistic practice—from iconic sculpture and furniture design to textile and graphic design—Noguchi to Asawa explores how Japanese American artists transformed the aesthetic landscape of postwar America and demonstrates that Asian American history is foundational to modern art and design.

BEST OF ALL? IT’S FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Art, community, entertainment, and philanthropy. The Barnes Art Ball raises critical funds that ensure the future of the foundation’s educational mission, exhibition program, and collection care, and the wide array of community, artistic, and scholarly projects undertaken by the organization.

The event champions our core belief that art has the power to inspire through shared experiences of the brilliant, the beautiful, and the sublime.

Attire: Artful, creative, chic cocktail.
