Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Barnes

With a world-class art collection, expertly guided tours and exclusive programs, a restaurant featuring delicious fare, and a fabulously curated shop, the Barnes has everything Mom could want for a special day.

Plan a Visit

Plan a visit over Mother’s Day weekend, May 7–11! We’re open from 11am to 5pm every day.

The Barnes is home to one of the world’s greatest collections of impressionist, post-impressionist, and early modern paintings, with especially deep holdings by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, and Picasso. Assembled by Philadelphia native Dr. Albert C. Barnes between 1912 and 1951, the collection also includes important examples of African art, Native American pottery and jewelry, Pennsylvania German furniture, American avant-garde painting, and wrought-iron metalwork—it is unlike any art museum you’ve experienced. During your visit, you can also discover Freedom Dreams, our new exhibition offering a moving-image meditation on American history, Black identity, and the power of imagination, on view through August 9.

Can’t make it to the Barnes over Mother’s Day weekend? Barnes tickets make great gifts! Purchase a gift voucher redeemable for a future visit.

Tours and Events

Guided tours are the perfect entry point to the Barnes experience. Explore highlights of the collection, or take a deep dive into the revolutionary artists who flocked to Paris in the early 20th century with our Spotlight Tour.

Plus, this weekend only, we’re screening Time by Garrett Bradley as part of our Freedom Dreams film series. The documentary follows the decades-long quest of Sibil Fox Richardson, a mother of six and a fiercely outspoken prison abolitionist, to free her husband, Robert, from the Louisiana State Penitentiary.

Private tours are also available. Led by a specially trained docent, this tour is a private experience for up to nine guests (minimum of two guests). You can also purchase gift vouchers for a private tour that can be redeemed at a later date.
