About the Event

The Barnes is proud to host the second conversation in a series organized with (re)FOCUS 2024, a citywide celebration recognizing women artists and the 50th anniversary of Philadelphia Focuses on Women in the Visual Arts. The landmark 1974 exhibition and festival was one of the first large-scale surveys of contemporary American women artists.

This panel brings together prominent gallerists—Betty Cuningham (Betty Cuningham Gallery), Helen Drutt (Helen Drutt Gallery), Christine Pfister (Pentimenti Gallery), Pamela Salisbury (Pamela Salisbury Gallery), and Cristin Tierney (Cristin Tierney Gallery)—for an engaging conversation about their work and their roles as women leaders in the field. Thom Collins, Neubauer Family Executive Director and President of the Barnes, moderates the discussion.

The book (re)FOCUS Then and Now: Philadelphia Focuses on Women in the Visual Arts, 1974–2024 is available for purchase in the Barnes Shop.

Includes access to the collection galleries and Alexey Brodovitch: Astonish Me.
