Calder Gardens
The Barnes Foundation is the operational partner of Calder Gardens, with responsibility for its operations, administration, and governance. The Trustees of Calder Gardens is a section 509(a)(3) supporting organization that provides strategic and financial support for Calder Gardens. Its assets and liabilities are included in the consolidated financial reports located on this page.
The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage
As of August 2025, through a grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts (Pew), the Barnes is the operating partner for the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage (the Center). Since the Center was established in 2005, it has awarded countless project grants to Philadelphia-area cultural organizations and 12 individual fellowships annually to local artists through the Pew Fellowships in the Arts program. Funding for all grants and fellowships is provided by Pew, and applications are reviewed and selected for awards by panels of external artists and field experts. The Barnes, the Center, and Pew staff members do not serve on the Creative Project grants, Evolving Futures grants, or Pew Fellowships panels and do not determine recipients. Additionally, as the operating partner, the Barnes is not eligible for Center grants.
