About the Event
It’s the first Sunday of the month, which means free admission at the Barnes. Enjoy fun art activities, performances, and free access to the collection and Alexey Brodovitch: Astonish Me.
This month, we’re presenting a full day of family fun in partnership with the Wilma Theater’s new opera Hilma, which explores the life and work of Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), one of the first modern abstract artists. Along with activities inspired by the painter and her spiritual connection to art and nature, there will be two special preview performances of Hilma by its cast.

Thembi Palmer of Imagine More Story Adventures leads a journey of discovery through the story of artist Hilma af Klint. Ages 2 and up.

See exclusive previews of the Wilma Theater's new opera, Hilma, before it opens on June 4. Blending opera with elements of rock, pop, and musical theater, the production sheds light on Swedish artist Hilma af Klint and her contributions to early abstract art.
