Director of Community Engagement and Family Programs ($90–100k)
The Director of Community Engagement and Family Programs is a visionary and strategic leader who is responsible for the development, implementation, assessment, and continual refinement of programs for underserved and diverse communities, aligned with the Barnes’s progressive artistic, educational, and social missions. The Director develops and deepens relationships within targeted communities and contributes to a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive cultural environment for all by devising programs in partnership with colleagues from across the institution, the Philadelphia region, and beyond to support the growth and retention of diverse new audiences for the Barnes. The Director mentors and manages a team of programming and administrative staff members and fosters an open and collaborative environment that welcomes colleagues’ experiences and creativity.
Barnes Shop Sales Specialist ($17.50/hr)
The Barnes Foundation is seeking a Shop Sales Associate to deliver consistent and superior customer service in the Barnes Shop and to sell products that support the educational and revenue goals of the Barnes. Our Shop Sales Specialists work with a digital point of sale system on the Shop sales floor.
Remote IT Help Desk Technician ($19.25/hr)
The Remote IT Help Desk Technician will serve as the primary liaison between the IT department and students enrolled in virtual education classes at the Barnes Foundation. The individual should have a mix of technical and customer service skills. The individual should be passionate about technology and helping people. The help desk technician will be responsible for managing support calls on the helpdesk phone line and tickets in the student helpdesk ticket queue, escalating system-wide issues to their supervisor.
IT Help Desk Technician ($20–24/hr)
The Help Desk Technician will serve as the primary liaison between the IT department and the Barnes Foundation staff, volunteers and online students. The individual should have a mix of technical and customer service skills. The individual should be passionate about technology and helping people. The individual will be responsible for managing tickets in the ticket helpdesk systems and support calls on the helpdesk telephone line, escalating system-wide issues to the appropriate individuals.
Guest and Protection Services Associate ($17.25/hr)
Guest and Protection Services Associates provide a best-in-class experience to every person who visits our institution. As the first line of interaction between the Barnes and all guests, Guest and Protection Services Associates sets the tone for an exceptional guest experience, making the “customer centered” concept a daily reality. Guest and Protection Services Associates are part of a team that is truly the face of the Barnes and work under the direction of the Director of Guest and Protection Services to ensure a visit to the Barnes is informative, friendly, respectful, and efficient. This includes answering questions, enforcing rules, looking out for suspicious behavior, providing assistance, and engaging guests with warm and welcoming conversations about the Foundation and its collections.
Public Programs Coordinator ($42–46k)
The Public Programs Coordinator helps support, conceptualize, implement, and evaluate public programs with special focus on administrative support and program planning. These programs aim to increase audience engagement, feature racial, ethnic, and generational diversity, and encourage engagement with the Barnes, while creatively illuminating the collection, Barnes Foundation history, and special exhibitions. Reporting to the Curator of Public Programs, this individual supports the current suite of programs while participating in conceptualizing and introducing new initiatives through the Public Programs department. The Public Programs Coordinator is also vital for maintaining relationships with internal departments and stakeholders, and with our core artistic and community partners.
Curator of Public Programs ($80–85k)
The Curator of Public Programs is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing a wide variety of time-based public programs aligned with the Barnes’s progressive artistic, educational, and social missions, as well as earned and contributed revenue goals. The Curator contributes to a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive cultural environment for all by devising programs in partnership with colleagues from across the institution, the Philadelphia region, and beyond to support the growth and retention of diverse new audiences for the Foundation. The Curator mentors and manages a small team of junior public programming staff members, and fosters an open and collaborative environment that welcomes colleagues’ diverse experiences and creativity.
Internships
We offer summer internships in a variety of departments for undergraduate and graduate students. Our interns work with experts in their fields, gain valuable job experience, and engage in meaningful work.
Application deadline: February 1
Apply online. Applicants will be notified of their final status about eight weeks after the application deadline.
All internships at the Barnes are paid. Undergraduate students receive $12.75 per hour. Graduate students receive $15.75 per hour.
The summer internship program runs from the first week in June through the second week of August. Interns work 2–3 days per week and are required to work on Fridays, when all interns participate in mandatory enrichment activities.
Volunteering
Volunteering at the Barnes provides unique access to our collections, programs, and staff, as well as opportunities to work with other art and horticulture enthusiasts.
