About the Talk

Each month, members of our education, research, and curatorial teams present their ongoing research on the collection to members. These talks are a great way to learn more about your favorite artists in the collection.

Italian artist Giorgio de Chirico is known for his barren and seemingly timeless cityscapes. These mysterious works reflect his interest in the intersections between philosophy, history, and artistic tradition. Join Kaelin Jewell, senior instructor at the Barnes, to learn more about de Chirico’s enigmatic Horses of Tragedy and its connections to late medieval painting and the political climate of early 20th-century Europe.

This talk will take place in Room 23 of the collection galleries.
