About the Exhibition
Laura Leggett Barnes maintained a personal library of horticulture books, which are now held in the Barnes Foundation’s Special Collections. Her library included scientific books for professional horticulturalists and instructive books for amateurs, as well as guides to landscape design and philosophical treatises on nature. The books on display were meant to reveal Mrs. Barnes’s horticultural interests and illuminate the relationships she cultivated with some of their authors.
