The executive director and president of the Barnes Foundation, Thom Collins, has announced the appointment of Dr. Martha Lucy as deputy director for education and public programs and curator. In the newly created position, Lucy will work to build a “refreshed education program” with “additional interpretive tools and materials and an invigorated roster of public programs,” according to the Barnes.
Lucy co-wrote the book Renoir in the Barnes Foundation (2012), published by Yale University Press, and she was formerly associate curator at the Barnes Foundation. She curated the show Mark Dion, Judy Pfaff, Fred Wilson: The Order of Things, earlier this year. “As an educator, curator, and art historian, my passion is connecting people with art and talking about it in a way that is accessible and relevant.”
