Barnes Foundation Presents Major Exhibition Exploring Artistic Relationship Between Filmmaker Jean Renoir and Painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Premiering May 6, 2018, at the Barnes—home to the world’s largest collection of paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir—is a major exhibition examining the artistic exchange between the renowned impressionist painter and his son, celebrated filmmaker Jean Renoir. Renoir: Father and Son/Painting and Cinema brings together over 120 works—including paintings, drawings, ceramics, films, costumes, photographs, and posters—for an illuminating exploration of Pierre-Auguste’s role in his son’s oeuvre and the relationship between painting and cinema.
To welcome more visitors during the holiday season, the Barnes Foundation has announced special extended hours of 10 am–8 pm from Tuesday, December 26, through Saturday, December 30. Collection tours will be offered each day at 10 am and 4:30 pm, and tours of the Kiefer Rodin exhibition will be offered at 1 pm.
Major International Exhibition to Explore the Legacy of a Founding Member of Impressionism, Berthe Morisot
Today the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (Québec City, Canada), the Barnes Foundation (Philadelphia, PA), the Dallas Museum of Art (Dallas, TX), and the Musée d’Orsay (Paris, France) announced the internationally touring exhibition dedicated to one of the revolutionary artists of the French Impressionist movement, Berthe Morisot (1841–1895).
To welcome more visitors around the Thanksgiving holiday, the Barnes Foundation has announced special extended hours of 10 am–8 pm on Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25. Collection tours will be offered each day at 10 am and 6 pm.

The Barnes Foundation has announced its musical programming for fall 2017, bringing into dialogue performers from around the world with the Barnes’s renowned collection. Inspired by Albert Barnes’s unconventional approach to arranging art, the Barnes Ensemble—an innovative contemporary music collective—will make its debut performance on Sunday, October 8, as part of a nine-day festival featuring rehearsals, educational engagements, and collaborations across Philadelphia.
