About the Event

Enjoy an evening of art, live music, cocktails, and light fare at our monthly First Friday mixer.

This month’s event is presented in partnership with the Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival (PHLAFF), which celebrates the extraordinary work of emerging and established Latine/x/a/o filmmakers, musicians, and artists. Enjoy live musical performances by Carolina Oliveros as well as film screenings from this year’s festival.

Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, Oliveros is a Grammy-nominated artist known for fronting the New York–based cosmic rock group Combo Chimbita and the bullerengue fusion band Bulla en el Barrio. Her solo work blends the traditional sounds of her ancestors with modern styles, resulting in music that is gritty, mystical, and fiercely alive. Her voice is a force that moves between the sacred and the chaotic—a call to both celebration and resistance.

First Friday at the Barnes includes access to the collection and Freedom Dreams.

Live music: 6:30pm & 7:45pm (Annenberg Court)
Film screenings: 7:30pm (Comcast NBCUniversal Auditorium)

Seating for the musical performances and film program is limited. Cocktails and light fare are available for purchase.

In the mood for something heartier? The Garden Restaurant is open for dinner during First Friday. Make a reservation between 6 and 8pm.
