Performances by Equinox presented by MIC’d Up

Started by trumpeter Robert Randolph, Equinox is an instrumental quartet from the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. The group’s sound is influenced by bebop, Brazilian, and Latin jazz, as well as R&B, funk, and hip-hop. Today’s performance is inspired by jazz legends including Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal, Roy Hargrove, James Jamerson, Calvin Rodgers, and Emmet Cohen. Equinox has performed at the Four Seasons Philadelphia, the Fitler Club, and the Germantown Jazz Festival.

MIC’d Up (Music Industry Classrooms) is the School District of Philadelphia’s music mentorship program. Participating students meet with music industry professionals to discuss their passions for art, music, and technology and to learn more about the business side of music. Participants perform at venues across the city, including a residency at JG SkyHigh at the Four Seasons Philadelphia.
