About the Tour

Led by a specially trained docent, this tour explores the work of Russian-born designer, photographer, and instructor Alexey Brodovitch. An important contributor to the visual culture of the 20th century, Brodovitch is best known for his art directorship of Harper’s Bazaar from 1934 to 1959. He is also known for his mentorship of an extraordinary number of celebrated documentary and fashion photographers, including Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Eve Arnold, and Lillian Bassman, as well as his collaborations with luminaries such as Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Brassaï.
