About the Event

This First Sunday, we’re celebrating anniversaries! Dive into the excitement of the United States’ 250th birthday with hands-on art activities, lively performances, and free access to our collection and current exhibitions: Freedom Dreams, Sky Hopinka: Red Metal Dust, and Just Us. Philadelphia’s dynamic all-women tap company, The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble, is also celebrating its 15th anniversary this summer. Today’s performances of reimagined classics and innovative new choreography will have you tapping your toes. The young and young-at-heart are invited to participate in a series of call-and-response rhythm games with the dancers.

Registration opens Thursday, July 2, at 10am.

Led by artistic director Tamera Dallam and managing director Katie Budris, the Philadelphia-based ensemble centers the work of women in tap through performance, education, and community outreach. Now in its 15th year, the ensemble produces original works of choreography while preserving the tradition of improvisation in American rhythm tap. Enjoy special performances and participate in rhythm games for all ages.
