About the Event
This First Sunday, we’re celebrating anniversaries! Dive into the excitement of the United States’ 250th birthday with hands-on art activities, lively performances, and free access to our collection and current exhibitions: Freedom Dreams, Sky Hopinka: Red Metal Dust, and Just Us. Philadelphia’s dynamic all-women tap company, The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble, is also celebrating its 15th anniversary this summer. Today’s performances of reimagined classics and innovative new choreography will have you tapping your toes. The young and young-at-heart are invited to participate in a series of call-and-response rhythm games with the dancers.
Registration opens Thursday, July 2, at 10am.

Today’s art activities are led by teaching artists from Fleisher Art Memorial’s ColorWheels. Explore our collection through a scavenger hunt challenge to claim a prize. Perfect for the whole family—ages 2 and up.

Join us for an interactive storytime with Thembi Palmer of Imagine More Story Adventures—ages 2 and up.

Performances by the Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble
Led by artistic director Tamera Dallam and managing director Katie Budris, the Philadelphia-based ensemble centers the work of women in tap through performance, education, and community outreach. Now in its 15th year, the ensemble produces original works of choreography while preserving the tradition of improvisation in American rhythm tap. Enjoy special performances and participate in rhythm games for all ages.
