About the Class
Unpack why Camille Pissarro is so revered as a paterfamilias of both impressionism and post-impressionism. The only artist to exhibit work in all eight impressionist exhibitions, Pissarro is appreciated not only for his pioneering imagery but also for his personal connections to some of the most important French artists of his time. Investigate how his scenes of architecture, figures, and nature pulled from French realism and helped lay the foundation for major developments in early 20th-century French modernist painting.

Palczynski is an art history lecturer, consultant, curator, and educator for academic, corporate, and nonprofit institutions. He regularly leads sessions on innovation at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, teaches art history at Tyler School of Art and the Barnes, and presents lectures worldwide for Road Scholar.
